The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held January 30, 2018 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit. Members present include Supervisors: Mike Berscheit and Bruce Johnson; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Sup. Louis Thompson was absent. Erv Herdering was also present.
The minutes from the regular meeting of December 27, 2017 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters from Todd County notice of taxes received and planning and zoning, election information, Long Prairie Fire meeting February 7. Todd County Planning and Zoning received an ordinance change request that would restrict all livestock from having direct access to lakes that have DNR public boat access. Although the board does not think this is a serious problem, they felt that modern agriculture practices should not rely on lakes for water supply for livestock.
The clerk did purchase a new computer for township use.
Sup. Johnson discussed having brush cutting contractor trim brush in ditches at last year’s rate. Sup. Berscheit and Johnson will each view road ditches and mark on maps where contractor should trim.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5525 through 5539: Rev. $3,436.81; R & B $19,232.47. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
With the March 13, 2018 township elections coming up Sup. Johnson made a motion to appoint Pam Throener, Brenda Schwanke, and Bonnie Alsleben as election judges with Pam Throener and Brenda Schwanke as the absentee ballot board. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motion passed.
In the road report board and contractor will watch roads for icy areas.
The clerk handed out and posted a list of dates for this year’s township board meetings. She also gave an update from the clerk training she attended.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $117,935.68. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:31 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center where the board will audit the books of the clerk and treasurer.
