Eunice Arlene Kohner of Albany, Minnesota, formerly of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Mother of Mercy in Albany. She was 98 years old.
Eunice was born on June 24, 1923 in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Clara (Magedanz) Besser. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Iron Range in Minnesota. During her elementary school years, the family relocated to Ogilvie; she graduated from Ogilvie High School. During WWII she worked in the laboratory at the iron mine in Marble, MN. She then attended beauty school and worked in beauty shops in the Mora/Ogilvie area.
On June 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Reginald J. Kohner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogilvie. She resided in Mora until moving to Albany to be near family. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in LWML and Women of Zion.
She enjoyed a large flower garden, sewing clothes for her daughters and draperies for the home, and many other handicrafts including making Chrismons for the church Christmas tree.
Eunice is preceded in death by her husband Reginald and sister Irene Prell.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Kohner of Rochester, MN and Marla (Dan) Swanson of Swanville, MN; grandchildren, Matthew and Meredith Swanson; great-grandchildren, Evan, Kaylee and Ainsley.
A Funeral service was held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Anthony Cloose officiating. Music was provided by Karen Kirschner- Danielson. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora. Arrangements were by the Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.
