Matthew Joseph Sandelin was born on August 26, 1987 to Frank and Peggy (Jones) Sandelin. He grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota and graduated from Long Prairie Grey Eagle High School. He attended the Central Lakes Community College in Brainerd. Matthew lived in Minneapolis for the past eight years and became a store manager at Speedway Convenience Store.
Matthew was an avid sports fan, especially hockey. Vikings, Twins, and Wild games with his family were always special. He rooted for the Cornhuskers with his family in Nebraska. Matthew had a passion for the outdoors where he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and most importantly camping and was the centerpiece to the annual family camping trips. Matthew loved his family and friends, he treasured time spent with those he loved. Matthew’s nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, he always made his time with them special and knew how to make them smile. Matthew will be remembered by how he took time to make people feel special, whether it was someone he had just met or someone he knew for a long time. He could always make you smile or laugh.
Survivors include his parents, Frank and Peggy Sandelin; sisters Lorrie (Chad Johnson) Sandelin, Minneapolis, Carrie (Dean) Faulkner, San Diego; brothers Jonathan (Sherri) Sandelin, Grey Eagle, Andrew (Stephanie) Sandelin, Tampa, FL and Joshua Sandelin, Saint Louis Park; beloved nieces and nephews, Zoe, Ayla, Josiah, Isaiah, Riley and Kai.
He is preceded in death by his Grandparents.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Assembly of God Church in Long Prairie.
