On October 3 at approximately 10:42 P.M. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a one vehicle crash on County Road 18 in Raymond Twp., Stearns County. The female driver stated she had been driving northbound on County Road 18 from Padua going towards Sauk Centre when she had struck some type of animal, which she believed to be a cow, but she was not sure. She said her vehicle was disabled and she could not see anything due to it being dark. She believed she was off the roadway and in a corn field but did not know her current location. The Sauk Centre Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol assisted in locating the scene of the accident which was near the address of 37266 County Road 18. Dewald’s Chrysler mini-van had struck 3 black cattle that were in the roadway, 2 were deceased and the 3rd was moved back into the pen. The owner of the cattle, Kenneth Moscho, stated several other cattle were out of the pen and in the area as well. He checked the area for the other cattle. The driver, Sue Dewald, was transported to the Sauk Centre Hospital by ambulance for her injuries sustained during the crash. The accident remains under investigation but the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
