November 2, 2018, at approximately 5:27 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Communications Center received medical call. The caller stated a male’s leg was stuck in a power take off (PTO) shaft of a tractor.
According to Sheriff Gudmundson, Dale Zimmer, 60, of Albany, was operating a grinder/mixer when his pant leg got caught on the PTO shaft of the tractor. This caused significant injury to his leg. Zimmer’s adult daughter was present and immediately called 911.
Rescue personnel were able to free Zimmer’s leg from the equipment and he was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.
The Albany Fire Department, Melrose Ambulance and Life Link Helicopter assisted on scene.
