Judy M. Schmidt, age 70 of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at the CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Judith M. “Judy” Schmidt was born July 20, 1956 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to August G. and Marie (Brake) Schmidt. Judy finished through the eighth grade in Freeport and graduated from Melrose High School. She worked at the Jennie-O Turkey Store for over 30 years until her retirement. Judy lived at Rose View Manor before moving to the nursing home in Melrose.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Judy enjoyed crocheting, reading, pencil coloring, and playing BINGO.
Survivors include her siblings, Ray Schmidt (Diane) of Avon, Jerome Schmidt of Melrose, Mary Schmidt of Melrose, Conrad Schmidt of St. Cloud, Debra Schmidt of Melrose, and Sandy (Dave) Thielen of Hawick.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, August G. and Marie Schmidt; brother, David Schmidt; and sister, Dorothy Struder.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Freeport.
