Ken Meier

October 20, 2026 by Hometown News

Ken (Kenny) Meier, 83 of Sauk Centre died unexpectedly on October 18, 2026 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 26 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Kevin Soenneker officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday in the gathering area at St. Paul’s Church.
Kenneth Arthur Meier was born on June 24, 1943, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, to Ervin and Daisy (Cheadle) Meier. He was the oldest of five children.
Ken was united in marriage to Carol Johnson on October 2, 1966, in Sauk Centre. Together they built a life and family until Carol’s passing in 1993 at the age of 46. Ken later married Constance “Connie” Blank on August 21, 1999.
From a very young age, Ken had a passion and natural talent for woodworking. He spent much of his career doing what he loved as the owner of his own carpentry business, Ken’s Remodeling. Ken took great pride in his craftsmanship and truly loved his work. Ken always said: “I never worked a day in my life.”
Ken was also deeply committed to his community and generously gave his time to causes that mattered to him. Over the years, he volunteered with the Lions Club, where his dedication and service were recognized with three special honors: the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, the RISE Award, and recognition for 40 years of service with the Lions Club. He was also involved in land stewardship and the conservation club. One of the projects especially close to his heart was the development of the soon-to-be Fairy Lake Outdoor Learning Center.
When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Ken could often be found enjoying the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and keeping his lawn meticulously manicured. He also enjoyed a good game of cards, and being his child or grandchild never earned anyone an easy win.
Above all, family was one of Ken’s greatest priorities. He rarely missed a sporting event for his children and continued that tradition with his grandchildren. A devoted hockey fan, Ken was also a Husky Hockey Center Ice Club member and season ticket holder for 25 years.
Ken set an example for those around him through his strong work ethic, humility, kindness, and commitment to serving his community. He had a sharp mind, a wonderful sense of humor, and took tremendous pride in both his work and his family.
Ken leaves behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, service, and, most importantly, love of family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Connie Blank-Meier of 27 years. His children: Kim (Tom) Hanauska, Kevin (Jen) Meier, Cori (Andy) Schulte, Krissy (Holly Pelzer), Craig (Lindsay) Meier; Stepchildren: Michael (Kim) Blank, Christopher Blank, Laura (Doug) Fuchs, Fallon (Mike) Norby; 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; siblings: Alfred Meier, Linda (Greg) Desrosiers, Rod (Ruthie) Meier.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Daisy Meier; wife Carol Meier; grandson Dalton Schulte; sister Darlene Folk; brothers in-law Lee, Jim, Phil, Keith; sister in-law Julie and many other dear family and friends.
Memorials can be made to Sauk Centre Lion’s Fairy Lake Park. The family is planning a memorial bench in Ken’s honor at Fairy Lake Park.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
