On September 26, 2026, at approximately 2:56 A.M., the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting an unoccupied truck that gone through a stone fence and struck numerous grave markers in Greenwood Cemetery. Around the same time the ECC also received a 911 phone call that disconnected. Upon call back a male answered and said there was no problem. Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Sauk Centre Police Department responded to the area which is on the edge of city limits.
Upon arrival Sauk Centre Officers confirmed the truck was unoccupied. A short time later, one of those officers located Daniel Camorlinga Meza, 19, of Long Prairie, northeast of the crash near 390th Ave. in Sauk Centre Twp. Camorlinga Meza’s phone was confirmed to be the one that had called 911 around the time of the crash. He is also the owner of the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado left at the crash scene.
After further investigation Camorlinga Meza was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and transported to the Sauk Centre Hospital for further investigation and evaluation of his injuries. Camorlinga Meza was driving the Silverado eastbound on Co. Rd. 17, failed to stop at the T intersection, went through the cemetery stonewall, and struck numerous grave markers before coming to a stop.
He was later transported to the Stearn County Jail where he was booked and held for court on third degree DWI charges.
A representative of the cemetery was contacted later in the evening on 9-26-26 and estimated the damage to be approximately $50,000 in total.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sauk Centre Police Department and the Melrose Police Department.
