Meeting called to order by Jill Kurowski at 5:45 p.m.
Present: Marilynn Blommel (Marilynn’s Vacations), Jill Kurowski (Style n Go), Shelly Primus (CMCU), John & Lori Young (Hometown News).
Treasurer’s Report was presented through August 2014, ending balance is $4,180.65.
Old Business: GEM Fest, July 18, 19, 20, 2014: Should the Lions move the date for 2015?; Farmers Market and Craft Sale: 31 reserved vendor spots, 28 showed up; Kid’s Tractor Pull: 34 kids attended.
• National Night Out: August 5, 2014, the Community Choir was invited to sing. Get to know your neighbors. Root beer floats were served. The fire department and sheriff were invited. Approximately 70 people attended in 2014. • Concerts: Slewfoot played. Approximated 30 people attended. • Review at annual meeting if we should continue the summer concert.
New Business: Halloween: Friday, October 31, 2014, ‘Trick or Treat Down Main Street’. Community Builders will be hosting a trick or treat evening on Main Street from 5-7:00 p.m. Any business interested in participating, please contact Jill at 320-285-7780 to be put on the list. If any outside businesses would be interested in decorating a trailer to park in town, also contact Jill. Deadline for Hometown News is October 20 for the ad.
In 2013, 13 businesses participated in the Halloween event.
Business Expo: When should it be held? Will be discussed at annual meeting.
Annual Meeting: January 15, 2015. 7-8:30 p.m. at the Double R. Speaker, John Young ‘5 tips to promote your business on social media.’ Invitation letter: first drink free and light appetizers.
