Adella H. Thelen, age 88 of Melrose, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Adella Hildegard Mueller was born August 8, 1926 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Kettler) Mueller. She graduated from Melrose High School. In 1948, she married Roman Hinnenkamp at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Roman passed away in 1958. On May 7, 1960 she married Herbert “Herb” Thelen at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Adella worked at Stearns Electric in Melrose for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Adella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers, and the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Doris (Glenn) Winter of Bertha, Jeanne Thelen of New Hope, Jan (Mark) Lefebvre of Clear Lake, and Jim (Lynn) Thelen of Centerville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Kitty) Mueller of Melrose; and sister-in-law, Millie Mueller of Melrose.
Adella was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roman Hinnenkamp in 1958; second husband, Herbert “Herb” Thelen on April 27, 2012; brothers and sisters, Mary Mueller, Joseph Mueller, Agnes (Boniface) Hinnenkamp, Lawrence Mueller, Loretta (Edward) Frieler, and Irene (Ronald) Shay.
Serving as casket bearers were Glenn Winter, Rob Winter, Mark Lefebvre, Jackson Lefebvre, Max Thelen, and Charlie Thelen. Cross bearer was Emma Lefebvre and scripture bearer was Kristin Enger.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
