Albany Twp. Fire-UPDATED INFORMATION

February 24, 2021 by Hometown News

On February 14, 2021 at approximately 4:37 p.m., The Stearns County Communications Center received a call reporting a building fire at 23864 360th Str. in Albany Township. Deputies responded to the scene and located the fire in a machine shed on the property. Albany Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

A SUV located inside the shed was consumed in the fire. The owner of the property was identified as the Krebs Family Farms, LLC. Deputies spoke to a member of the LLC who was on scene and determined that the vehicle did not belong to the LLC and was left at the location by an unknown person. The vehicle was later found to have been reported stolen in Stearns County and that portion of the investigation is continuing. The owners of the farm site where it was recovered are not considered suspects in the stolen vehicle case or subsequent fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A State Fire Marshal’s office investigator also responded to the scene. If you have any information regarding this fire please call the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number, 320-251-4240 or the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 1-800-723-2020.

Freeport Fire and Rescue and Melrose Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
