Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Avon for Alice I. Pflipsen, 88, who passed away peacefully and thankful to be surrounded by her loving family. Rev. Blane Wasnie, OSB officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Alice was born on August 7, 1927 in Avon the daughter of John and Barbara (Knoblach) Smith. She married Harold Pflipsen on June 18, 1946 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon. Alice worked very hard laundering at St. John’s Abbey/University for 39 years. She is a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and Christian Women for 52 years. Alice walked in her faith daily and was proud of her Christianity. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and hosting July picnic day for the entire Smith family. Alice loved her family beyond words; she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Alice is survived by her children, Terry (Diane) Pflipsen of Avon, Ruth (John Cofell) Pflipsen of Albany; grandchildren, Dustin, Ember, Ted, and Diana; great grandchildren, Brooke, Colten, Riley, Levi, and Skyler; sister, Janet; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; great grandson, Jackson; siblings, Ernest, Louise “Mae,” Adeline, Bernice, John, Cecelia, Fredrich, Susan, Norbert, Pauline, Irene, Elmer, and Eugene.
