Alma A. Schulte, age 89 of Freeport, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the CentraCare Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Entombment was in the parish cemetery.
Alma Anna Frericks was born January 25, 1932 in Freeport, Minnesota to Herman and Walburga (Beste) Frericks. On September 28, 1954 she married Justin Schulte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Alma worked at Jennie-O for 27 years and worked beside her husband on the family farm.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Christian Women, and Catholic United Financial. Alma enjoyed playing cards and BINGO, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Joyce (Frank) Koopmeiners of Upsala, Sue (Leroy) Tweet of Kenneth, Chuck Schulte of Freeport, Tom (Janet) Schulte of Sauk Centre, Pam (Kurt) Scherping of Freeport, Karen (Steve) Zwack of Freeport, and Brian (Amy) Schulte of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Kayla (Dustin) Richters, Arica and Melissa Tweet, Justin Schulte, Katie (Tom) Smieja, and Ryan Schulte, Cody, Brooke (fiancé, Kyle Wiechmann), and Emily Scherping, Maddison, Katelyn and Ethan Schulte; two great-grandchildren, Elle and Elijah Richters; brother, Ervin Frericks of Minneapolis; sister, Louise (Don) Haskamp of Blaine; and sister-in-law, Annette Frericks of Mountain Iron.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Schulte on September 6, 2012; parents; son, Allen Schulte on July 1, 1960; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Lennie) Holmer on August 2, 2020; infant twin grandchildren, Curt and Carl Schulte; brothers and sisters, Marie Zwilling, Ambrose Frericks, Elmer Frericks, Raymond Frericks, Florence Austing, Esther Hinnenkamp, Jerome Frericks, and Roman Frericks.
Serving as casket bearers were Joyce Koopmeiners, Sue Tweet, Chuck Schulte, Tom Schulte, Pam Scherping, Karen Zwack, and Brian Schulte.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Freeport.
