Anthony L. “Tony” Kerfeld

Anthony L. “Tony” Kerfeld, age 80 of Albany, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home in Albany, Minnesota after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Isaiah Frederick, OSB officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany.
Anthony Leo Kerfeld was born October 30, 1936 in Melrose, Minnesota to Joseph and Bertha (Klassen) Kerfeld. On July 4, 1959, he married Dorothy Kerkering at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. He started working for Silbernick Oil in 1960 and in 1977 the name changed to Albany Oil. Tony then became co-owner of Albany Oil in 1977 and continued to work there until his retirement in 1998. During retirement, he worked part-time for Albany Chrysler for several years and enjoyed fishing any chance he could get.
He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Catholic United Financial #400, and volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Albany Community Center and a 15-year member of the Melrose Credit Union Credit Committee; representing the Albany branch.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Kerfeld of Albany; son, Todd (Gladie) Kerfeld of St. Cloud; sisters and brothers, Rosie Rolfes of St. Cloud, Kathy (Harry) Elfering of Melrose, Jim (Kathy) Kerfeld of Sauk Centre, Dick (Kerry) Kerfeld of Merrifield, Bernie Ostendorf of St. Cloud, and Ann (Mike) Hiltner of Cold Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Willy and Joseph Kerfeld.
Serving as urn bearer will be Todd Kerfeld. Cross bearer will be Ann Hiltner and scripture bearer will be Jerry Dufner.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
