Arnold F. “Arnie” Hoeschen

Arnold F. “Arnie” Hoeschen, age 90, of Freeport, died peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Robert Rolfes officiating. Rev. Dan Walz, Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B., Rev. Robert Harren, and Rev. Fred Timp, S.V.D. will concelebrate Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church in Freeport. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
Arnold Frank Hoeschen was born July 14, 1928 in Freeport, Minnesota to Hubert and Mary (Barhorst) Hoeschen. After graduating from Melrose High School, he entered the United States Army from 1946 to 1948; serving in Japan. After the military, Arnie attended St. Cloud Business College. He was united in marriage to Regina Harren on October 5, 1950 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. On March 15, 1951, Arnie started working at Freeport State Bank where he worked as a banker and insurance agent. He eventually left the bank in 1989 to work as an insurance agent with Commercial Exchange Corporation in Freeport. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Regina Hoeschen of Freeport; children, Gene (Joan) Hoeschen of Isanti, Fritz (Joyce) Hoeschen of Freeport, Kathy Hoeschen of Long Beach, Mississippi, Ron (Sheila) Hoeschen of Eden Prairie, Tim (Linda) Hoeschen of Port Orchard, Washington, Lee (Joyce) Hoeschen of Mount Vernon, Indiana, and Al (Ruth) Hoeschen of Apple Valley; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with one due in November; brothers and sisters, Rose Groen of Richfield, Robert Hoeschen of Freeport, and Walter (Alice) Hoeschen of Freeport; and brother-in-law, Al Brodie of Faribault.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer Hoeschen; sister, Dorothy Brodie; brother-in-law, John Groen; and sister-in-law, Donna Hoeschen.
Serving as casket bearers will be Arnie’s sons, Gene, Fritz, Ron, Tim, Lee, and Al Hoeschen. Cross bearer will be Kathy Hoeschen and scripture bearer will be Regina Hoeschen. Honorary bearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Freeport.
