On April 3, 2021 at approximately 8:41 p.m, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call of an ATV crash with injuries at 42523 248th Avenue in Krain Township. This address is located approximately 5 miles east of St. Rosa. The caller reported two occupants were trapped in the ATV with injuries.
Deputies arrived and learned the 2013 Polaris Ranger had an adult male and adult female on board when it crashed. They found the male driver, identified as James Hiltner, 64, Freeport, had been able to free himself from the side-by-side and was bleeding from the head. The female occupant identified as Jean Enowmbitang, 52, was pinned underneath the side-by-side. Hiltner had attempted to lift the ATV off of Enowmbitang with a skidloader.
Hiltner was transported by ground ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital. Enowmbitang was transported by Life Link to the St. Cloud Hospital. Driver impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
