Aurelia Sundermann, age 88 of Melrose, passed away October 28, 2016 at Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31st at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking presiding. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery following the service.
Aurelia Catherine Bertram was born March 21, 1928 in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Katherine (Hemmesch) Bertram. She was united in marriage to Roman Sundermann on January 31, 1948. The couple farmed northwest of Melrose. Aurelia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose and volunteered with the St. Mary’s Mission Group there for many years. Aurelia was also a member of the Christian Mothers. Aurelia enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and doing miscellaneous crafts. She also loved bird watching, being outdoors and helping on the farm.
Aurelia is survived by her husband, Roman Sundermann; daughters, Jonie Sundermann of Sauk Centre and Jane (Scott) Keppers of Holdingford; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Clarence Bertram of Spring Hill; sisters, Ann Hinnenkamp of Sauk Centre and Catherine Lieser of Plymouth.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Sundermann on December 2, 1996; brothers, Leo, Nick, and Al Bertram; sisters, Mary Lieser, Loretta Lieser, and infant sister, Theresa Bertram.
Serving as casket bearers were Jason Keppers, Eric Keppers, Kyle Keppers, Mark Boecker, Peter Hinnenkamp, and Ben Hinnenkamp. Holly Keppers was the cross bearer and JoAnn Hartung was the scripture bearer. Holly Keppers prayed the petitions. Communion gift bearers were Eric Keppers and Kyle Keppers. Mass servers were Kim Meyer and Sarah Meyer.
