On December 14, 2020 at approximately the Stearns County Communications Center received a call reporting a possible fire in a garage attic. The homeowner Beth Schlangen, 34, St. Martin, had been experiencing electrical issues earlier and had the circuit breaker replaced to correct issue. Harlan (age 95) and Lulu (age 92) Darkenwald, of Long Prairie passed away within hours of each other on the 7th & 8th of December after 71 years of marriage.
