Barbara M. Breth

Barbara M. Breth, age 91 of St. Francis, died peacefully, with her family at her side, on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 26 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with Rev. John Odero officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in St. Francis. Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Barbara M. Berscheid was born May 27, 1922 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to George and Theresa (Buchholz) Berscheid. She was united in marriage to Werner Breth on May 18, 1948 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. After marriage, the couple farmed near St. Francis until 2008 when they moved to Albany.

Barbara was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis where she was a member of the Sewing Circle and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, visiting and spending time with family. She knew no stranger.

Survivors include her children, Glen (Irene) Breth of Albany, Thomas (Joan) Breth of St. Joseph, Donald (Susan) Breth of Bowlus, Joan (Gary) Rademacher of Holdingford, Ray (Janice) Breth of Royalton, and Carol (Claude) Reimche of Yucaipa, CA; daughter-in-law, Martha Breth of Holdingford; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Hildegard Nelson of Milaca.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Werner Breth on March 7, 2012; infant sons, Gerald and George Breth; son David Breth; brothers, Ray and Elmer Berscheid; and sister, Alvina Meier.

Casket bearers will be Joe Breth, Matt Breth, Ross Breth, Chris Breth, Tony Breth, Clint Rademacher, and Adam Rademacher. Cross bearer will be Emma Goerger.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
