Bernard J. “Ben” Arceneau, age 87 of Elrosa, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his home in Elrosa, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, December 6 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Joe Korf officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Bernard John Arceneau was born March 27, 1934 in St. Martin Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Theresa (Blonigen) Arceneau. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1958. On June 25, 1998, he married Joan Arceneau at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Ben farmed all his life near Elrosa. In his downtime, he enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing, and watching Elrosa and St. Martin Legion Baseball.
Ben was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Sts. Peter and Paul Court 1908 Catholic Order of Foresters, Elrosa Senior Citizens, and was a rosary leader at church for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Arceneau; children, Dean (Betsy) Arceneau of Belgrade, John (Starla) Arceneau of Sauk Centre, Fred (Jan) Arceneau of Elrosa, Paul (Sandy) Arceneau of Melrose, Mark Arceneau of Elrosa, Peter (Lora) Arceneau of Cold Spring, Joel (Lisa) Arceneau of Alexandria, and Ann (Dale) Schleper of Melrose; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Mae Schneider of Albany; sister-in-law, Lucy Arceneau of Albany; and brother-in-law, Donald Herzog of Melrose.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and in-laws, Hildegard (John) Lemke, Margaret (Innocent) Hellmann, Jenny (Al) Blommel, Alois Arceneau, Norbert Arceneau, Edwin Arceneau, Clarence Arceneau, Dorothy (Herbert) Wenker, Elmer Arceneau, Betty Herzog, and Della (John) Feldewerd; brother-in-law, Leo Schneider; and granddaughter, Chantell Arceneau.
Serving as casket bearers were Fred, Josh, Brent, Jeff, Jeremy, and Cole Arceneau. Cross bearer was Janet Christen and scripture bearer was Braden Schleper. Readers were Shania Chase, Melany Wolf, and Dylan Arceneau. Gift bearers were Joey Arceneau, Becky Buse, and Bennet Arceneau. Eucharistic Minister was Sandy Arceneau.
