Bernice A. Gill

Bernice A. Gill, 80 year old resident of Swanville, MN, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Sterling Park Health Care Center in Waite Park, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Swanville, MN with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial was at St. John’s Parish Cemetery in Swanville, MN.
Bernice was born on January 18, 1935 in Albany, Minnesota to the late John & Theresa (Heinen) Ewertowsky. She was united in marriage to Elmer Gill on September 15, 1953 in Albany, Minnesota. The couple resided in the St. Joseph area until 1971, when they moved to a farm south of Swanville.
Bernice was a homemaker who enjoyed working in her large garden, cooking, baking, and sewing. She made numerous bridesmaid, prom, and flower girl dresses. Bernice’s three wonderful grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a long time member of the St. John’s the Baptist Christian Women, and also spent 20 years working as head cook for Church funeral luncheons.
Bernice is survived by her son, Byron (Denise) Gill of Swanville, MN; daughter, Lynette Hartung of Albany, MN; grandchildren, Johnathan & Nicole Gill, and Samantha Hartung.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband; Elmer in 2010; parents; John and Theresa Ewertowsky, and brother; Jerome Ewertowsky.
