Bob Holig

Bob Holig, 67 year old resident of Swanville, MN passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Ash River Trail in Orr, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Friday and from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN.
Bob was born on November 22, 1946 in Little Falls, MN to the late Joseph and Marjorie (Canfield) Holig. He grew up and attended school in Swanville, MN graduating from Swanville High School with the Class of 1964. After graduation he enrolled at St. John’s University in Collegville, MN. Bob later enlisted into the Minnesota National Guard and was activated to the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Sandy Carlson on September 14, 1968 in Minneapolis, MN. Bob operated the First State Bank of Swanville since 1972 and later purchased the bank from his father in 1982. In 1989 Bob and Sandy built Shooters Pub and together they ran that until 2002 when they sold it. Bob loved and cared about Swanville, he was always willing to help the community in any way possible. He was active with the Swanville Lions, volunteer fire department, and the Swanville American Legion. Bob was a very charming and charismatic person that always put his family as his number one priority. He was the kind of man that always wanted to go above and beyond to make everything extra special and his biggest concern was did everyone have fun! Bob loved the outdoors, especially hunting, boating, and just being outside having a blast.
Bob is survived by wife of 46 years Sandy Holig of Swanville, MN; children, John (Tricia) Holig of Randall, MN and Janene (Adrienne Milan) Holig of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Mary (Jim) Nunke of Clearwater, MN; grandchildren, Jalen Wuchko, Stella Holig, and Clara Holig; and “his loyal companion chopper”.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marjorie Holig; son, Joseph “Josh” Holig; and sister, Ann Holig-LaFond.
