Burnhamville Township December 27, 2017

The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held December 27, 2017 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit. Members present include Supervisors: Mike Berscheit and Bruce Johnson; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Sup. Louis Thompson was absent.
The minutes from the regular meeting of November 28, 2017 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters from Todd County notice of taxes received, notice from City of Swanville concerning well head planning meeting on January 3 which Sup. Johnson said he would attend, notice of water drainage seminar, Long Prairie Fire meeting February 7, and confirmation of road recording.
The clerk informed the board the computer broke down and is in for repairs. The supervisors gave the approval to upgrade the computer. Clerk will check prices.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5513 through 5524: Rev. $652.13; R & B $6,466.85. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sup. Johnson made a motion to approve the liquor license for the Swanville / Sobieski Lions Fishing tournament held February 24, 2018 on Long Lake. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sup. Berscheit made a motion to approve resolution #2017-02 designating annual polling place as the Burtrum Community Center for the township as required by Minn. Stat. 205.16. Motion seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
In the road report the board has viewed tree trimming projects and improvements look good. The board also discussed ideas for 210th Street road improvement project in the spring. Board and contractor will watch roads for icy areas.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $106,599.32. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
Filing for township offices for the March election will be open from January 2 until 5 p.m. January 16, 2018. One supervisor and the clerk are up for election.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:21 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
