The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville was held June 25, 2019 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit. Members present include Supervisors: Bruce Johnson, Mike Berscheit and Joe Muellner; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Jean Gustafson, Marlene Clark and Erv Herdering was also present.
The minutes from the regular meeting of May 28, 2019 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters about planning and zoning, board of adjustment, Swanville fire board and state household estimate. The board had no complaint on the planning and zoning request. The Swanville fire board had a meeting to discuss the building roof repair.
The township lawyer was present to discuss abandoned house in Pillsbury. The neighbors complained of rats on that property and lowered property value. The attorney suggested we adopt an ordinance. She discussed steps needed to improve or remove the problem house. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to hold a special hearing at 6:30 on July 30 to discuss the proposed nuisance ordinance. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5770 through 5782: Rev. $706.65; R & B $39,909.89; Fire. $11.18. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed.
In the road report the dust control has to be done at intersections and south of town where more gravel needed to be added and worked in. The contractor had to clear debris from culvert on 168th street again. The township was divided up between the supervisors to do weed inspection. Ditch mowing bids were opened. Sup. Johnson made a motion to accept the low bid from KB Specialties/Mike Berscheit. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed with Sup. Berscheit abstaining.
A land owner of Dogwood Loop requested a speed zone by the lake homes there. Sup. Johnson viewed the area and agreed. Since it meets the requirement for a rural residential area Sup. Johnson made a motion to adopt resolution 2019-1 setting the 35 MPH speed limit zone on Dogwood Loop. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. With all voting in favor, motion passed.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $141,984.53. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m. Next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 with a special hearing at 6:30 and regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center
