The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held June 26, 2018 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit. Members present include Supervisors: Mike Berscheit, Bruce Johnson and Joe Muellner; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Sandy Lange and Erv Herdering were also present.
The minutes from the regular meeting of May 29, 2018 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters about Planning and Zoning, canoe path on Swan River open house June 30 and final annexation papers from City of Swanville.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5595 through 5610: Rev. $2,554.98; R & B $22,237.97. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sandy Lange presented a report on the Swan River Canoe path. The Conservation Corp cleared a path in the river and marked the direction. The board approved signs she showed that will be posted that stated rules, start and stop areas. The supervisors passed along concerns of some land owners that were worried about people going on their property along the river. She said they would post more signs if there are problems.
Sup. Berscheit made a motion to appoint Shirley Hulinsky, Pam Throener, Brenda Schwanke, Bonnie Alsleben, Mike Holmgren, Chuck Macy, and Nancy Hillman as election judges with Shirley being head judge; pending completion of training. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The Chair received notice that someone is moving a house along Morrison Line Road. He checked out the area and tree trimming is needed in that area. Sup. Johnson will contact tree trimming contractor to get work done.
In the road report beavers are causing trouble on 168th again. Contractor is finishing up on dust control spraying and will work on crushing rock and adding gravel. The 210th project will continue when contractor has time. Township received a complaint of someone putting black dirt on Forest Lane. Supervisor checked it out and contacted sewer contractor that did work along that road. Contractor will put class 5 gravel over small area of dirt on the road. Sup. Berscheit talked to some concerned residents about stop signs on Erie Trail. He will check out best solutions. Ditch cutting is in progress and he will do spraying to cut down on tree regrowth. Supervisors are working on weed inspections with not many problems now.
Clerk gave an update from summer training.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $166,526.44. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
