The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville was held March 24, 2026 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit following the reorganizational meeting. Members present include Supervisors Mike Berscheit, and Bruce Johnson; and Clerk Shirley Hulinsky. Pam Throener and Joe Muellner were absent. Linda and Jim Gohman and Kevin Herdering were also present.
The minutes from the regular meeting of February 24, 2026 were approved on a motion by Sup. Johnson and second by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township received invitation from Todd County Development Meal, Todd County Comprehensive Plan, Todd County Township Officer meeting, Long Prairie Fire Department township meeting, and Todd County Weed meeting.
A motion was moved by Sup. Berscheit to pay all claims numbered 6974, 6978 through 6995 totaling $13,635.57. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Linda Gohman was present to request a gambling permit for St. Joseph’s Church fund raising dinner at the Hub Supper Club on June 12, 2026. Sup. Berscheit moved a motion to approve the permit and Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sup. Berscheit presented an access permit from Chad Kerfeld for a second driveway. He viewed the area on Fitland Loop and thought it was appropriate. Sup. Berscheit moved a motion to approve the access permit and Sup. Johnson seconded. Motion passed.
The supervisors viewed quotes for road maintenance. Sup. Johnson moved a motion to accept the road blading contract presented by Herdering, Inc. and Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit moved a motion to accept the dust control contract presented by Herdering, Inc. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Sup. Johnson moved a motion to accept the gravel contract from Herdering, Inc. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. All motions passed.
In the road report the contractor and supervisors will monitor the road conditions. Annual road inspection will be held April 16, 2026 at 2 p.m. Board will view Ermine Trail and discuss how to improve or make ditch for better drainage off road. Also, will view drainage culvert on Dunlin Road however, the holding area and drainage pipe is on private land. Lake side land owner will talk to county for plans. Dust control was discussed. The township will pay for half of the spray areas as requested by owners. The board agreed to spray all of 331st Ave. south of beach to meadow and south of town to 150th St., Flicker Road and Dunlin Road. Sup. Johnson motioned that residents/land owners in these areas must pay for a minimum of 150 feet, or the size of their lot if smaller, or their lot will not get sprayed. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sourcewell is offering a short-term community grant offer. Entities can apply to be in a lottery for this $30,000 community grant. After discussion of how to use the funds, the board settled on improving some public fishing accesses in our township. Sup. Berscheit moved a motion for Resolution 2026-01 Apply for Community Grant. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The Treasurer’s report shows balance of $128,252.98. Also, void check 6354 for $30. Sup. Berscheit moved a motion to approve treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. on a motion by Sup. Berscheit and a second by Sup. Johnson. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 7 pm in the Burtrum Community Center.
