Burnhamville Township March 26, 2019

The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville was held March 26, 2019 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by Clerk Shirley Hulinsky. Members present include Supervisors: Bruce Johnson, Mike Berscheit and Joe Muellner; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Randy Mettler, Nicholas Mettler and Erv Herdering were also present.
Newly elected officers were sworn in before the meeting.
Sup. Johnson made a motion to select Mike Berscheit as chair. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Sup. Muellner made a motion to select Bruce Johnson as vice chair. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motions passed.
The minutes from the regular meeting of February 26, 2019 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5716 through 5741: Rev. $2,610.33; R & B $16,289.55; Fire $1,501.00. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters about purchasing new signs, county weed training, county township officer meeting, and update township newsletter addresses.
Supervisors have discussed purchasing a ditch mower for the township to use. After getting several bids, Sup. Johnson made a motion to purchase a weed/brush cutter with roller attachment from Skid Pro. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion and upon vote motion passed.
As part of the reorganization after the annual meeting and election Sup. Berscheit made a motion to keep the wages of the board members and election judges the same. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Sup. Muellner made a motion to pay mileage according to IRS standards. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motions passed. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to have official posting site as the bell bulletin board by town hall in Burtrum. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Sup. Johnson made a motion to have Long Prairie Leader as the official publishing newspaper. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. After discussion Sup. Berscheit made a motion to have gopher tail bounty set at $2 per tail. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motions passed.
After reviewing bids Sup. Johnson made a motion to accept the contracts for Herdering, Inc. for gravel at $7.40 per yard, blading of roads for $92.50 per hour and dust control at $0.75 per foot at 18 feet wide. The township will again pay for ½ and requesting resident will pay for 1/2 of coverage on township roads. Motion was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
A resident was concerned about the flooded ditch of State 28 and 170th St. Board will contact state highway department to see if culvert should be there.
Bruce Johnson and Pam Throener were reelected at the township election on March 12 and there was a small turnout for the annual meeting.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $100,859.09. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
Supervisors set Friday, April 12 at 3 pm as the date for the annual road inspection.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center
