The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held March 27, 2018 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Clerk Shirley Hulinsky. Members present include Supervisors: Mike Berscheit, Bruce Johnson and Joe Muellner; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Erv Herdering was also present.
Newly elected officers were sworn in before the meeting.
Sup. Johnson made a motion to appoint Mike Berscheit as chairman. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to appoint Bruce Johnson as vice-chair. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motions passed.
The minutes from the regular meeting of February 27, 2018 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters from Todd County and Bruce Township Planning and Zoning, asphalt patching and tree service ads, life insurance and address updates for officers, and election equipment grant update.
The clerk received an access permit from property owner on Fitland Loop. Sup. Berscheit approved application and Sup. Johnson will view area for culvert requirement.
The clerk received notice that each township should have electronic funds transfer policy. Burnhamville Township will allow treasurer and or clerk to authorize electronic transfer of funds previously approved by the board for normal township business.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5552 through 5566: Rev. $1,688.79; R & B $3,645.00 Fire $1,672.00. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed.
At the March 13, 2018 township election Shirley Hulinsky was re-elected clerk and Joe Muellner was elected supervisor.
Sup. Berscheit made a motion to keep board members wages and meeting reimbursements the same as last year, with mileage following IRS standards. Motion was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to pay $1 per tail for gopher per diem. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to have First State Bank of Swanville the official depository and also Central Minnesota Credit Union for investments. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to have Long Prairie Leader the official newspaper for official township published notices. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to have the Burtrum Fire Bell bulletin board the official posting of notices. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motions passed.
After discussion the board set annual road inspection for Thursday, April 19 at 2:30.
The annual township clean-up day is set for Saturday, May 19 from 9-11 am. Clerk will send out bid requests.
After discussion Sup. Johnson make a motion and Sup. Berscheit seconded it for Herdering, Inc. contracts for gravel, blading and dust control. Motion passed.
In the road report one culvert needed to be thawed out. The board and contractor will watch roads for icy areas and water on the roads.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $119,110.74. Settlement from forfeited land sales was deposited by the treasurer. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:44 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
