The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville was moved to March 27, 2020, instead of March 31, at the Burtrum Community Center, due to the stay in place order of Governor Walz which will start tonight. The meeting was called to order at 4:36 p.m. by Clerk Shirley Hulinsky. Members present include Supervisors: Bruce Johnson, Mike Berscheit, Joe Muellner; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; and Treasurer Pam Throener. Also present was Erv Herdering.
The clerk and supervisor re-elected were sworn in before the meeting.
The minutes from the regular meeting of February 25, 2020 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson and was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters concerning Swanville City water plan, life insurance offer, and reimbursement forms for presidential nominating primary.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5887 through 5905: Rev. $3,266.07; R & B 1,014.69. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motion passed.
With this being the first meeting after the annual election the board conducted reorganizational issues. Sup. Johnson made a motion to select Sup. Berscheit for chair. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to select Sup. Johnson as vice-chair. Sup. Muellner seconded the motion. Motions passed. The time and date of regular township meetings will stay the same; last Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Burtrum Community Center on a motion by Sup. Berscheit and a second by Sup. Johnson.
After discussion meeting wages for board members will stay the same, hourly wages will increase to $15 per hour for board members and election judges on a motion by Sup. Berscheit and a second by Sup. Johnson. Gopher bounty will be $2 per tail on a motion by Sup. Johnson and a second by Sup. Muellner. Official newspaper is Long Prairie Leader with other publication including Hometown News stated in a motion by Sup. Berscheit and a second by Sup. Johnson. Official depositories include First State Bank of Swanville and Central Minnesota Credit Union on a motion by Sup. Muellner and a second by Sup. Berscheit. Official posting is the Bell Bulletin Board in Burtrum with a motion by Sup. Johnson and a second by Sup. Berscheit. Motions passed.
Supervisors viewed quotes for road grading, gravel and dust control. Sup. Johnson made a motion to approve quotes from Herdering, Inc. for all. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
The road inspection was set for Thursday, April 23 at 3 pm if the stay in place order is lifted. Otherwise the supervisors will each check an area and compare lists at the next meeting.
Township clean-up day is set for Saturday, May 16 at the Lion’s park in Burtrum.
In the road report the supervisors discussed renting a bobcat from Little Falls Motors to use as ditch brush cutting. Roads are in good shape. Contractor will start grading soon. Contractor and board members will watch for frost boils. Dust control will be the same price this year as last year. Clerk will advertise to have payment in by May 10 with hopes spraying will get done in May.
At the Presidential Nominating Primary election on March 3 there were 67 votes cast in Burnhamville Township and 20 voters came for the township election.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $86,187.95. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Muellner. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 5:16 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
