Burnhamville Township May 30, 2017

The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held May 30, 2017 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Vice-Chair Louis Thompson. Members present include Supervisors: Louis Thompson, and Bruce Johnson; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Absent: Sup. Mike Berscheit. Others present: Gary Opatz and Erv Herdering.
The minutes from the regular meeting of April 25, 2017 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Thompson. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters from Todd County Planning and Zoning, MAT, First State Bank of Swanville, Stearns Rural Electric about weed spraying and ditch mowing bids.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5426 through 5439: Rev. $1,643.15, R & B $13,374.51. Sup. Thompson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
A resident of Dunlin Road requested more dust control spray between residents on that road to help with road grading and keeping the road in better shape. After discussion Sup. Johnson made a motion to do full coverage between paying customers on Dunlin Road. Sup. Thompson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
A land owner on Dowell Drive asked a supervisor about putting in an approach. After viewing supervisor noted that no culvert is needed due to the shape of the road and land.
The supervisor that was going to install handicap signs on 315th Ave was not sure both sides of the road were checked by Gopher State One Call. Clerk will check into it.
The Clean-Up Day went well with about three dumpsters being filled. The bill was discussed as how to split between city and township.
In the road report contractor is working on doing dust control spraying. Flower trail resident requested gravel, but supervisor will have to trim trees before gravel can be applied at end of road.
Supervisors split up township areas to do weed inspections in June.
Contractor will start with trimming of trees on west side of Ermine Road this year.
Clerk and treasurer would like to clean up files by following General Records Retention Schedule for election papers, claims, receipts, correspondence, check statements and check stubs. Sup. Thompson made a motion to do so and Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sup. Thompson made a motion to approve KB Specialties bid for ditch mowing. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Sup. Johnson made a motion to accept DK’s Tree and Landscape bid for brush cutting as needed. Sup. Thompson seconded the motion. Motions passed.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $87,722.30. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Johnson and seconded by Sup. Thompson. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Johnson to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Thompson. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
