The regular meeting of the Town Board of Burnhamville Township was held November 28, 2017 at the Burtrum Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Mike Berscheit. Members present include Supervisors: Mike Berscheit and Bruce Johnson; Clerk Shirley Hulinsky; Treasurer Pam Throener. Sup. Louis Thompson was absent. Others present: Erv Herdering.
The minutes from the regular meeting of October 31, 2017 were approved as presented on a motion by Sup. Johnson. Motion was seconded by Sup. Berscheit. Motion passed.
For correspondence the township board members received letters from Todd County Planning and Zoning and notice of taxes received, a LUCA Census letter, and an unpaid fire bill from Grey Eagle.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to pay all bills numbered 5501 through 5512: Rev. $805.92; R & B $19,863.48; Fire: $811.09. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motions passed.
The contractor finished cutting trees on Ermine Drive and Flicker road storm damage. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to pay DK’s Landscaping $825 for storm damage clean up. Sup. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The board has received all the signed “Release of Damages” forms from land owners along Forest Lane and, as stated at the September hearing, the supervisors were satisfied with the road. Sup. Johnson made a motion to approve resolution #2017-01 to accept the platted road “Forest Lane” for maintenance by the township. The town will plow the road as deemed necessary by the townboard and grade the road approximately once a month or as deemed necessary by the supervisors. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The contractor removed a lot of trees on 210th Street and added gravel in the road improvement project. Board will evaluate road in spring again.
The board looked into changing the fire service areas and found out the county and maybe the state would have to agree to the changes as the county computer system would have to be modified for any changes. As the land owner did not supply any more information, the fire service areas will stay the same. Also, from the Grey Eagle fire meeting was a notice of unpaid fire call that the board will pay and put on the owners taxes. The department requested that townships try to trim more trees on township roads. They also said they will try to reduce the fire budget from the last few years.
The State of Minnesota is offering a grant to help pay for election machine upgrades. Todd County would like to apply for this grant to upgrade election equipment throughout the county. Sup. Berscheit made a motion to send a letter of support for new tabulator and electronic poll book for our prescient. Sup. Johnson approved the motion. Motion passed.
The board completed the noxious weed report for the county.
Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $61,336.86. Treasurer’s report was approved by Sup. Berscheit and seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed.
Sup. Johnson make a motion to move the December regular meeting to Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Sup. Berscheit seconded the motion. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Sup. Berscheit to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Sup. Johnson. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m. Next regular meeting will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Burtrum Community Center.
