The meeting of the Burtrum City Council was called to order at 7 p.m. on March 7, 2016 by Mayor Ron Strassburg. All members answered to roll call and minutes from the Feb. 1st meeting were read and approved on a motion by Beau Krueger and seconded by Kevin Wunderlich. Upon vote motion carried.
The finance report was read and approved on a motion by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Anna Payne. All members voted in favor. Motion carried. A motion to pay the bills was made by Beau Krueger and seconded by Kevin Wunderlich. Upon vote motion carried.
Terri Veldkamp was at the meeting to request a gambling permit for the tractor club. Request approved and motion by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Kevin Wunderlich. All members voted in favor of motion. Motion carried.
Swanville school requested to use the ball field at the part. Contract was approved on a motion by Kevin Wunderlich and seconded by Anna Payne. Motion carried.
A town resident was at the meeting to discuss his property. Resident agreed to allow council members to visit his residence to assess what further actions needed to be taken to improve home. City council members agreed to meet at the resident’s property to assess changes. City council members met on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 5 p.m. After discussion, a motion by Deb VanHavermaet seconded by Anna Payne. All in favor. Motion carried to proceed with court papers.
After some discussion a motion to vacate some allies was made by Kevin Wunderlich and seconded by Beau Krueger. All members voted in favor, motion carried.
Kaitlynn Bollig was at the meeting to apply for the clerk’s job. After talking with her, a motion was made by Beau Krueger and seconded by Anna Payne to hire her. All in favor, motion carried.
Discussion to renew liquor licenses was discussed. Motion to approve these licenses was made by Beau Krueger and seconded by Kevin Wunderlich. All in favor, motion carried.
Being no further discussion, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Anna Payne. Upon vote motion carried.
Members met at a house in town that made repairs after inspection. In a motion made by Anna Payne and seconded by Deb VanHavermaet to start court proceedings to have it removed. All in favor, motion carried.
