The meeting of the Burtrum City Council was called to order at 7:00 pm on Monday April 1st, 2019 by Mayor Ron Strassburg. Those in attendance included: Ronald Strassburg, Carrie Wiechmann, Deb VanHavermaet, Mitchell Bruggenthies, Sharon Erickson, Kevin Rohde, Dustin Wiechmann, Seth Strassburg.
The meeting minutes from March 4th, 2019 were read and approved by a motion made by Kevin Rohde seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies, upon vote motion was carried and the minutes were accepted. Next the finance report was read and approved by a motion made by Sharon Erickson and seconded by Kevin Rohde. The City Council then discussed outstanding/routine bills and upon a motion made by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Mitchell Rohde, the bills were paid.
Regarding old business, a resolution was put together, signed, and voted first by Kevin Rohde and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies regarding a property in town that was inspected on November 30th, 2018 and February 4th, 2019. The mayor will be checking into bids for contractor that deals with culverts. This has been an issue for many years, so a possible change in culvert size or depth may help improve the waterway through his property and control the congestion that occurs every year the snow melts.
Next, in new business, Irene Bjelland was present for the cleaning job at the hall and with no other inquiries motion was made to accept her for the position, first by Deb Vanhavermaet and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies. There have been some complaints from residents in town in regard to large mounds of animal feces all over. Please be courteous to all residents, have your animals on a leash, and pick up after them when going for a walk. Swanville school will be leasing the ball field at the Lion’s Park for the summer for any overflow of baseball games.
As there was no further topics to discuss the meeting was adjourned with a motion first made by Mitchell Bruggenthies and seconded by Kevin Rohde, upon votes motion carried and the meeting was adjourned. The next City Council Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 6th, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Burtrum Town Hall.
