The meeting of the Burtrum City Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6th, 2017 by Mayor Ron Strassburg. Those in attendance included; Ron Strassburg, Kaitlynn Bollig, Kevin Rohde, Beau Krueger, Deb VanHavermaet, and Mitchell Bruggenthies.
The finance report was read and approved by a motion made by Beau Krueger and seconded by Kevin Rohde.
The meeting minutes from the January 9th, 2017 meeting were read and approved by a motion made by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies.
The City Council then discussed outstanding and routine bills and upon a motion made by Beau Krueger and seconded by Kevin Rohde, the bills were paid.
As there was no old business to discuss at this time, the City Council moved on to new business.
A resident of the City attended the meeting to request a building permit to add on to his existing garage. This request was approved by a motion made by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies, upon vote motion carried and the building permit was granted. The resident was instructed to go to Mayor, Ronald Strassburg, prior to building to pay and collect his building permit.
The local Sheriff attended the meeting to inform the City Council of possible increased drug activity occurring within the City limits. If you see any suspicious activity occurring, please report it to the Todd County Sheriff’s office.
The City Council discussed Liquor License dues/fees for the local Liquor Store. Their Liquor License and other associated dues/fees are set to expire in April of 2017. The decision was made to leave the fee amounts the same. A motion was made by Kevin Rohde and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies to approve the renewal, upon vote motion carried and it was approved. Please note that this is pending as the Liquor Store Owner nor an authorized representative of the Liquor Store attend this meeting to discuss. Should the Liquor Store wish to renew their Liquor License and all other associated Licenses, they should contact Mayor, Ronald Strassburg, prior to March 2017 City Council to ensure all proper documents are collected and processed accordingly. This will assist in ensuring that there are no delays in processing prior to April 2017.
The City Council also discussed the option of investing in a dirt thrower for the City Snow Plow to put on the roads when plowing. This topic was tabled until further notice to investigate costs and other components.
As there was no further topics to discuss the meeting was adjourned by a motion made by Deb VanHavermaet and seconded by Beau Krueger, upon vote motion carried and the meeting was adjourned. The next City Council Meeting is schedule for Monday, March 6th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burtrum Town Hall.
