Burtrum City • March 3, 2026

Call to Order/Roll Call: The Mayor called the meeting order at 7:00PM.
Attendance: Mayor Romie Gessell Jr., Sara Macho, Bobby Veldkamp Jr., Juli Scherping, and City Clerk Brooke Thieschafer. Absent: Irene Ehlert
The Pledge of Allegiance recited.
Agenda: Scherping made a motion to approve the agenda. Veldkamp supported. All in favor, motion carried.
Minutes: Macho made a motion to approve the minutes. Scherping supported. All in favor, motion carried.
Bills: Macho a motion to approve the bills. Scherping supported. All in favor, motion carried.
Todd County Sheriff’s Report: City Clerk went over the calls for the month.
Building Permits – None
Old Business: a. Easter Event – Working hard on the event. Volunteers stuffed eggs over the weekend.
New Business: a. Furnace: The current furnace in the community center is not working properly. A professional did come out for maintenance, it does kick on and off. There was a suggestion of replacing the furnace. A discussion was had about grants out there to help support and add a heat pump. More to come. The holding tank was also brought up. Macho made a motion to get the septic pumped every 3 months, to get on a schedule.
b. Recycling: It was brought to the council about opening it up on the weekends. A discussion was had about opening it on the weekend. No decision was made at this time.
c. New Sourcewell Grant: One-Time Funding Opportunity. A furnace would be a great option. More to come on what projects are actually available. The City Clerk will report back with more options for the grant.
Announcements: Easter Event April 4th, 2026 at 12 PM sharp – Lions Park
Finance Committee: April 7th, 2026 at 6:00 PM
Adjournment: Macho made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 PM. Macho supported. All in favor, motion carried.
The next City Council meeting is scheduled for April 7th, 2026 at the Burtrum Community Center.
