Calvin E. Hedin, 54 year old resident of Swanville, MN passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home in Swanville. Funeral service was held Monday, July 13, 2015 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN with Rev. Kevin Zellers officiating. Burial took place in the Bearhead Cemetery in Pillsbury, MN.
Calvin Eugene Hedin was born on March 12, 1961 in Little Falls, MN to Eugene and Wilma (Hartwig) Hedin. He grew up in Swanville, MN and graduated from Swanville High School in 1979. Calvin spent most of his life as a truck driver, spending the last 7 years with Knife River. He enjoyed hunting up north with his family and the occasional fishing trip. Calvin was a master wood splitter, always keeping his mom’s basement full. He loved watching the Young & The Restless and classic westerns on TV. He also enjoyed driving tractors and his ’72 Chevelle. Most of all, Calvin loved spending time with his family, especially his “little peanut”. He always had and never lost his sense of humor and always replied with a smart comment. Calvin was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville and the Community Cruisers of Upsala.
Calvin is survived by his mother, Wilma Hedin of Swanville, MN; son, Christopher Hedin of Little Falls, MN; daughter, Stacy (Alan) Emery of Little Falls, MN; brother, Allen Hedin of Swanville, MN; sister, Kathy Van Norman of Swanville, MN; brother in law, Brian (Erica) Menke of Sartell, MN; niece, Kim (Dan) Perrault; nephews, Kyle Van Norman, Chad Van Norman, Mitchell Hedin, Alex Menke, Isaac Menke; granddaughter, Olivia Emery.
Calvin was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; father, Eugene Hedin; sister, Sandy Menke; and nephew, Matthew Hedin.
Honorary Bearers were David Van Heel, Kim Perrault, Dan Perrault, Brian Menke, and Mark Van Heel.
Active Bearers were Kyle Van Norman, Chad Van Norman, Mitchell Hedin, Rick Gutormson, Alex Menke, and Dennis Woltman.
