Carol Gerads

Carol Gerads, 76 year old resident of Upsala, MN, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, MN with Father David Grundman officiating. Burial took place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
Carol Ann Gerads was born on January 5, 1939 in St. Louis Park, MN to the late John and Clara (Walker) Grauman. She grew up in St. Louis Park where she attended school. Carol was united in marriage to Daniel Gerads Sr. on September 21, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, MN. She was a very dedicated mother, always very supportive and loving to her children and husband. Carol was an outstanding cook and baker, making many wedding cakes, breads, and will be forever remembered for her wonderful fried chicken. She also had a passion for growing beautiful flowers and tending to her garden. Carol was a very active woman, always on the move and keeping busy with various activities. She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Christian Mothers, 4H Leader, Historical Society member, and taught religious education for 20 years. Carol’s family was always her priority, she always made holidays extra special and loved buying gifts for everyone in the family. She was greatly loved and her kind and tender spirit will be truly missed by many.
Carol is survived by husband, Daniel Gerads Sr. of Upsala, MN; sons, Daniel (Nancy) Gerads of Rice, MN, David Gerads of St. Cloud, MN and Douglas (Keona) Gerads of Upsala, MN; daughters, Danette (Jim) Ramsey of St. Cloud, MN, DanLynn (Tim) Kolstad of Holdingford, MN and Danielle (Duane) Motschke of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Shirley (Bob) Banaszak of Cambridge, MN, Patty Grauman of Brooklyn Center, MN and Mary (Kim) Peel of Brooklyn Center, MN; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by parents, John and Clara Grauman and brother, Gary Grauman.
