Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force

August 9, 2020 by Hometown News

Commander Jay Salzer advised that on August 5th, 2020, the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force received information that individuals were driving in the area of 10th Avenue South in the City of Waite Park, and were in possession of several guns and possible methamphetamine.
Investigators learned that the person who was supposed to be driving the vehicle was Benny Michael Wiggins, 33 years old from Sauk Rapids Mn. Investigators knew that Wiggins was ineligible to possess firearms.
After searching the area for some time, Investigators located Wiggins driving a vehicle matching the description that was originally given to Investigators. Investigators observed two other females in the vehicle as well. Wiggins parked the vehicle in the 100 block of 10th Avenue South in the City of Waite Park. Wiggins and one of the females exited the vehicle and walked into a business nearby. Investigators followed and as they walked by Wiggins vehicle, they observed several long guns, uncased in the back seat of the vehicle.
Investigators then detained Wiggins, and Corine Angela Kirmeier, 29 years of age from St. Cloud Mn along with another female. While searching the vehicle, Investigators located 2 long guns and one hand gun along with approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine. Wiggins and Kirmeier were both transported to Stearns County Jail for first degree possession of controlled substances and both booked for ineligible person in possession of firearms. The other female in the vehicle was released at the scene.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was assisted by the Waite Park and St. Cloud Police Departments. The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of Investigators from the City of St. Cloud, and Sartell, Police Departments and deputies from Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Todd and Morrison Counties Sheriff’s Office.
