Charles Cook, 63, of Long Prairie, passed away on January 23, 2016. Services were held January 26, 2016 at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville.
Charles Roy was born on February 11, 1952, in Cloquet to Willard & Maxine (Davis) Cook. He came out running and rebelling from the start. Whether it was riding horse to the corner store, motorcycle to “get the hell out of there” or riding his hotrod car through Jay Cooke State Park or running from the cops so he didn’t get caught. He had good stories to tell from his teenage years. Charlie met his lifelong partner Linda at Sandy Lake. They both became parents of Chuckie at a young age and made it 45 years together and proceeded to have Rich and Kim.
Charlie was born to be a farmer, it was in his blood. He and Linda moved to Long Prairie in 1983. Charlie milked cows for many years and then started doing the garbage route for Prairie Sanitary in 2001. April 15, 2015, Charlie was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He put up one hell of a fight against many complications. “He is one tough farmer” the doctors used to say. Charlie was a great friend, husband, father and grandfather. He was always there when we needed him. Every one of us have our favorite memory with him.
Charlie enjoyed having an Old Milwaukee or two, spending time with his family, friends, neighbors and their friends too! He will be very much missed by all, especially his family. Charlie always said “I’m in good shape for the shape I’m in.”
Charlie is survived by his wife of 45 years Linda of Long Prairie; son Richard (Maria) Cook of Long Prairie, daughter Kimberly Cook of Long Prairie; sister Linda (Dick) Hansen of Cloquet and his ride along partner “Bandie”; grandchildren: Jessie, Tyler, Heather, Harley, Ashley, Devin and Caren; great grandchildren: Peyton, Connor, Mayzee and Avery.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; son Charles “Chuckie” Cook, best buddy “Big” Joe Laveau.
