Clara M. Maile

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for Clara M. Maile, 95, who passed away on Wednesday. Rev. Blane Wasnie O.S.B. officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Clara was born in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Joseph and Bertha (Moser) Fuchs. She married Peter P. Maile on October 2, 1934 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon. Clara was a homemaker and lived in the Avon area most of her life. Her life centered around her family. She especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Clara was a gardener and a baseball fan. She followed the Avon Lakers baseball team, particularly when her children played on the team. Clara was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish and Christian Women.

Clara is survived by her children, CeCelia (Linus) Zimmerman of Siera Vista, AZ, Clara (David) Blattner Sr. of Avon, LaVern (Sharon) Maile of Cold Spring, Arnold (Lois) Maile of Washington, IL, Linda (Cliff) Borgerding of Avon, Leon (Brigid) Maile of Avon; daughter-in-law, Rosie Maile of Avon; sister, Catherine Wiechman and brother Joseph Fuchs both of Avon; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Peter on May 18, 1987; son, Edwin, daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and James Wegman; three grandchildren; brothers, Ed, Clem, Raymond, Martin, and Leo Fuchs; and sisters Eleanor Maile and Anna Doll.
