Clemens “Clem” Ignatius Solarz, 89, of Duluth MN, passed away on April 24 2026 at Viewcrest Nursing Home.
Clemens was born in Holdingford, MN to Zachary and Mary Solarz on July 28, 1936. He went to high school in Holdingford and graduated in 1953. He was enlisted with the Coast Guard for 22 years ending his career as deck chief on the USCG Cutter Woodrush, retiring after conducting a search mission for the Edmund Fitzgerald. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he worked another 22 years for the Duluth Transit Authority. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping in his RV in Bayfield, WI and home landscaping.
Clemens was preceded in death by his father Zachary, mother Mary, brothers Theophil, Herman, Felix, Theodore and sisters Emily and Celia.
Clemens is survived by his wife of 68 years Gale Solarz. He is also survived by his children Todd and Cory (Maria) Solarz. Grandchildren Danny, Derek, Alex, Spencer, Avrey, Madison, Reitan and Holden. Great grandchildren William, Kailee, Mathew, many nieces and nephews as well as his dog, Woody.
As per his wishes, no services will be held.
