Community Builders, September 27, 2012

Mission Statement: Area Businesses coming together to support growth and community involvement while maintaining a safe secure environment.
Present: Mark Larson (GE/Burtrum Lions), Dennis & Diane Kramer (Eagle’s Crossing), Theresa Pansch (Village Café), Shelly Primus (CMCU), & Jill Kurowski (Style N Go)
Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Cafe.
Treasurer’s Report read and approved by Theresa and Shelly.
Old Business: Gem Fest: Was successful! Six vendors participated in the Farmer’s Market, CB Float was pulled in parade, National Night Out Flyers were handed out during parade to advertise upcoming event. There was a bouncy house and tractor pull on Sunday in which we have approximately 60+ children attend. Snacks were also served (popcorn, water, & pop).
National Night Out: Was held August 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lion’s Park. The Community Choir sang, Grey Eagle Fire trucks were available; Deputy Sheriff John Decock with the Canine, and Police Chief Kevin Langer gave a speech. Diane announced that the donations collected tonight would go to these speakers. There were about 150 people that attended this event we served root beer floats and popcorn. We went through 9 2-liters and 8 pictures of pop with 6 pails of ice cream. It was a successful night. Donations were given as follows: Sheriff $75.00, Long Prairie Police $75.00, Community Choir $50.00 and The Grey Eagle Fire Department $50.00.
Promote Business: A questionnaire was sent out to all of the 2012 Gold Member of Community Builders to feature them in a half page article in the Hometown News. Only three were returned. Questionnaires were then sent to the 2012 Silver members of Community Builders. We are still awaiting replies from most of these members. Community Builders are also looking for available writers to assisting in composing these articles. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please call Jill Kurowski at 285-7780.
New Business: Halloween: Community Builders will be hosting a trick or treat evening on Main Street on Wednesday, October 31st from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Any businesses interested in participating, please contact Jill at 320-285-7780 to be put on list. If any outside businesses would be interesting in decorating a trailer to park in town, also contact Jill to be listed. The Grey Eagle Community Library will also be having a story time with snack at 5:30 p.m.

• Empty Stocking Program: Contact Janine at 285-5443 or Sue at 285-2387 by November 16, 2012.
• Grey Eagle/Burtrum Lion’s Blood Drive: December 19. Watch for signs around town.
