February 13, 2019 by Hometown News

On February 12, 2019 at approximately 2:19 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 11 and County Road 30 in Oak Township. This intersection is a few miles south of the City of Freeport.

According to Sheriff Steve Soyka, an SUV, driven by Cheryl Kae Ziemer, 55, of Freeport, was traveling northbound on County Road 11. Ziemer swerved to miss a truck pulling a gravity box. The truck, driven by Duane Lawrence Maus, age 52, of Freeport, was traveling eastbound on County Road 30 and was unable to stop for the posted stop sign. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Ziemer was transported to the hospital by Melrose Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Freeport Fire and Rescue.

The crash remains under investigation.
