January 29, 2014 by Hometown News

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon for Daniel Ralph Eichers who passed away at his home on Sunday. Rev. Blaine Wasnie O.S.B. will officiate. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Wednesday morning all at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon. Burial with full military honors will take place on Thursday, January 30th at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Avon.
Daniel was born in Cold Spring to the late Leo and Hedwig (Leither) Eichers. He married Alice Drontle on May 8th, 1957 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. The couple farmed in St. Wendel for 45 years until retiring in December of 2000 before moving to Avon. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel for 45 years until moving to Avon and joining St. Benedict’s Catholic Church where he was a current member. Daniel loved his farming life, especially the cows, but also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to auctions, watching the Minnesota Twins, and being an active member of his church. People could always count on him to lend a helping hand. Most important to Dan was his loving wife, Alice, of 56 years, and his family.
