David C. Hedin

David C. Hedin, 62 year old resident of Swanville, MN passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Long Prairie Nursing Home in Long Prairie, MN. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Burial was at Bearhead Cemetery in Pillsbury, MN.
David Charles Hedin was born on October 25, 1952 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to the late Edwin and RoJean (Tall) Hedin. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1971. David was united in marriage to Kathleen Pietrowski in the month of July of 1972 in Swanville, MN, and together they had daughter, Mary Lou. He later was remarried to Sheryl Canfield on May 1979 in Swanville, MN. Together the couple made their home in Swanville, and raised four children; April, Joni, Angela, and Travis. David worked in the Turkey Industry for many years. He later worked for Long Prairie Packing for almost 20 years. David enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and trapping. He also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golf and horseshoes. His favorite pastime was hanging out at the 12 Mile Tavern, visiting with friends, telling tall tales and pulling tabs. David was also known to never miss an episode of “The Young and the Restless”, and watching sporting events and crime shows.
David is survived by children, Mary Lou (Leroy) Kuster of Reynolds, ND; April (Mike Higley) Canfield of Miltona, MN; Joni (Mike) Johnstone of Browerville, MN; and Angela (Joel Kircher) Hedin of Alexandria, MN; and Travis Hedin of Swanville, MN; brother, Mike (Viola) Fogel of Brooklyn Park, MN; sisters, Nancy (Tracy) Hedin of St. Paul, MN; and Kathy (Con) Natvig of Swanville, MN; Lin Anderson of Bemidji, MN; and grandchildren, Chevela, Kayla, and Lynnae. He was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and RoJean Hedin.
Pallbearers were Mike Fogel, Nancy Hedin, Travis Hedin, Ashley Canfield, Angela Hedin, and Chevela Kircher.
