David L. “Davey” Friedrichs, age 74 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Galeon Community Memorial Home in Osakis, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Little Sauk American Legion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
David Leroy Friedrichs was born March 6, 1949 in Melrose, Minnesota to Jerome and Vivian (Wallin) Friedrichs. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was united in marriage to Terryl “Terry” Didier on March 25, 1972 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. The couple farmed north of Sauk Centre for over 50 years and Davey continued helping Greg with field work. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and the American Legion Post 417 of Little Sauk where he served as Commander for many years. Davey enjoyed riding around on his 4-wheeler checking on crops, playing cards, watching his children’s wrestling matches, and spending time at the family lake watching his grandchildren swim & fish. Davey was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. His family and friends will miss Davey’s quick-whitted humor.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Terry Friedrichs of Sauk Centre; children, Greg (Amy) Friedrichs of Little Sauk, Steve (Amy) Friedrichs of Monticello, Brian ”BJ” Friedrichs of Sauk Centre, and Amy (Chad) DeVries of Morris; grandchildren, Alexis, Riley, Brock, Hallie, Nicholas, Madelyn, Jackson, Grace, Benjamin, Natalee, Mari, and Callen; siblings, Sue (Kevin) Tschida of Sauk Centre, John (Lynn) Friedrichs of Osakis, and Diane (Scott) Hinnenkamp of Melrose; in-laws, Darryl (Vicki) Didier, Carryl (Doug) Vickerman, Fritz (Sharon) Didier, Huntz (Julie) Didier, Beryl (Dan) Blank, Meryl (Shelly) Didier, and Punky (Barb) Didier; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Davey was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Nick and Joan Didier; sister-in-law, Cheryl Didier; and Godchildren, Stacy Kowski and Danny Friedrichs.
Memorials are preferred.
