David was born January 14, 1943 in Little Falls, MN to the late Irvin and Eleanor Olson. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1961 and attended St. Cloud State University. David married JoAnn Vanselow on October 30, 1965 in Swanville, Minnesota. David worked as a Produce Manager and Bank Teller prior to owning and operating the family turkey business and an award-winning dairy farm until his retirement.
David was an outstanding athlete and life-long sports fan, never missing a Twins game. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and family road trips. David was an active volunteer with the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association, Swanville Lions Club and Firefighters. Above all, David dearly loved being with his family.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, JoAnn (Vanselow), children; Lori Brink of Woodbury, Lisa (Joe) Torborg of St. Cloud, Jon (Betsy) Olson of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Sara (Matt) Neibergall of Blaine; grandchildren, Ryan, Will, Ava, Andrew, Charlie, Olivia, Josie, Nels; and brother Donald (Connie) of Swanville.
David was a quiet, kind, generous, and spiritual man. He was a loving husband and father, and a loyal friend to many. “Boppa” will be deeply missed, especially by his beloved grandchildren who describe him as “big hearted, smart, funny, witty, clever, wise, a teacher and a best friend.”
