Delmar L. Zeller

Memorial services will be 11:00 am Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Delmar Zeller who died Friday at the Long Prairie Hospital. The Rev. Noah Wehrspann will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of services Thursday at the church in Long Prairie.
Delmar was born in Park Rapids to Lawrence & Elizabeth “Effie” (Terhark) Zeller. He grew up in Park Rapids and married JoAnn Voshell on November 27, 1952. The couple moved to Milwaukee, WI and then back to Park Rapids before moving to Long Prairie. He worked for Minnesota Power for many years until his retirement in 1987. Delmar was a member of the Long Prairie Fire Department from 1966-1993 and was also a member of the Long Prairie Lions Club for over 40 years. He was an avid sports fan, always watching the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed playing golf and all sports. He enjoyed spending time at the casino as well as spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to going up north to deer hunting camp with the guys. He loved to read the Mpls StarTribune and waited for it to arrive every morning. He and JoAnn had a love for cats, as they always had one and for many years fed the neighborhood cats. Family was very important to Delmar, he enjoyed spending time with them. He always enjoyed having a nice car, usually red in color. He was able to take his dream trip to Alaska. He always enjoyed watching the TV shows, “Alaska: The Last Frontier” and “Gold Rush.”
Survivors include his children, Jayne (Clint) Carlson of Fiji; Mike (Linda) of Stacy, MN; Judy (Randy) Beaver of Verndale; grandchildren, Joshua Carlson, Melissa (Bob) Burth, Zenaida (Leon) Nguyen, Shantel (Nick) Sundby, Chelsa Beaver; great grandchildren, Alexa Zeller, Sean Zeller, Matthew Nguyen, Lilly Nguyen, Blake & Avery Sundby, Arienne Burth, Logan Carlson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife JoAnn in 2011, brothers, Harold, Donald and Virgil.
