Dolores M. Burger

Dolores Magdalen (Vos) Burger passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2nd at the home of her son Allan in Lindstrom, Minnesota surrounded by family.
Dolores was born January 15, 1917 in Stearns County, Minnesota to Thomas and Rose (Schiller) Vos. She graduated from Holdingford High School, entered nurses’ training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN and was an alumni of St. Catherine’s University. She was a night supervisor at St. John’s Hospital in St. Paul for 40 years before retiring in 1982. Dolores and husband John moved to a farm in Afton in the 50’s and to Holdingford in the mid 80’s to care for her mother Rose Vos. Dolores spent many summers in the cottage next to her daughter Rosemary and husband Roger’s lake home on Big Birch Lake.
She was a member of the Christian Mothers, St. Joseph’s Society and Senior Citizens of Holdingford; and an auxiliary member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rose Vos, her husband of 61 years, John D. Burger, her daughter-in-law Sandra Zabel Burger, son-in-law Richard Ford, her son John N. Burger, sister Leola Anderson, brothers Norbert and Ralph Vos, grandsons M. Bradford Cox, great grandson Nolan Best and great granddaughter Brielle Ford.
Dolores is survived by children Rosemary (Roger) Phillips, Orlando, FL and Grey Eagle, MN; C. Allan (Cheri), Lindstrom, MN; Jeannette Ford, Pensacola, FL; and Thomas J., Clayton, WI; sister Rosemary Heisick, Bloomington, MN, 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to All Saints, St. Mary’s Church, Holdingford, MN or the American Red Cross. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at All Saints, St. Mary’s in Holdingford on Thursday, June 20 at 11 am, preceded by visitation at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with lunch following at the church. Dolores said to tell everyone: “Goodbye…and I’ll see you later!”
