Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Dolores Olga Pogatchnik, age 86 of Upsala will be 11 AM, Friday, October 26th, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis, MN. Father John O’Dero will officiate, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the service. Dolores died peacefully in her sleep early Tuesday morning at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids.
There will be a visitation from 4-8 PM, Thursday, October 25th, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and again from 10 AM until the time of the service Friday morning again at the church. Parish prayers will take place at 6 PM followed by the Christian Mothers and Upsala Legion Ladies Auxiliary praying the rosary at 6:30.
Dolores was born December 6, 1925 to William and Helen (Feldhaus) Mayer in Rockville Minnesota. She married Cyril Pogatchnik on May 27th 1947 in Cold Spring. Dolores lived in the Upsala area where she not only helped her husband on the farm, but also worked as home-maker and mother raising their four children. Dolores enjoyed sewing. She was into quilting, embroidery, and rug making. Besides sewing, she loved spending her time gardening, playing cards, and volunteering at places like the Upsala Senior Center and the St. Cloud VA Hospital. Most of all, Dolores loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dolores was a member of the Upsala Legion Auxiliary, the Christian Mothers, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Dolores is survived by her children Ronald (Mary) Pogatchnik, Casper, WY; Gary (Dawn) Pogatchnik, Swanville; Joyce (Mike Newell) Parish, Sauk Centre; Yvonne (Ronald) Lehrke, Sauk Rapids; her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Louis (Lillian) Mayer, Paynesville; Bernard (Irene) Mayer, Paynesville; Bernie (Willie Decker) Becker, Long Prairie.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Mayer; her husband Cyril Pogatchnik who passed in 1994; her brothers Albert, Raymond, Daniel, and Julius Mayer; her sisters Mildred Weller, Lucille Utsch, and LaVern Mayer; her son-in law Tim Parish and grandson Keith Pogatchnik.
Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Upsala.
